6 Items Every Household Should Keep in Their Medicine Cabinets

Is your home always prepared in case flu, allergies or sports injuries occur? Sniffles, coughs and inflammation often arrive unexpectedly.

If you have these natural, immune-boosting, cold-fighting, pain-diminishing remedies on hand, you can help your family get back to their wonderful, healthy selves as quickly as possible.

Homeopathic Arnica 6C or 30X

Arnica works wonders after trauma. It helps the body heal by contributing to blood re-absorption, allowing bruises to heal faster. Arnica can also reduce panic after a frightening experience, helping you to feel calmer after an accident. Take the recommended dose even every 15 minutes 3 to 4 times and gauge its effects.

Rescue Remedy

The Bach flower equivalent of Arnica is great for both emotional and physical trauma. Did a loved one take a spill that scared both of you? Each of you can take the recommended dose every hour as necessary.

A proteolytic enzyme such as Wobenzyme or Protease (preferably with calcium)

This remedy is to swelling as PAC-MAN is to dots; it goes right to the source of an injury and “eats up” inflammation. Take it every half hour. Make sure to take it on an empty stomach, or the body will use the enzyme to digest food instead of to reduce swelling. Do not take these enzymes if you have an ulcer.

Elderberry

Is a cold making its rounds at your child’s school? Elderberry is a wonderful, natural anti-viral for use at the first sign of infection. It may be taken as a lozenge or as a liquid.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C supports the immune system, and your body needs it even more when you are ill. It should be taken daily according to the individual’s tolerance. For example, if you can tolerate up to 1000 mg per day without suffering from gas or even diarrhea, you might increase your dose to even as much as 10,000 mg per day when you are sick. Return to the lower amount once you are well.

A set of Bach flower remedies

Bach flowers are wonderful for many different ailments. Read the characteristics of each, and keep a personalized set on hand for common situations that might arise in your home.
